  • He played a villain in Face/Off and Broken Arrow. He also played a bad guy that we rooted for Pulp Fiction. Now, John Travolta who danced his way into our hearts in Saturday Night Fever and Grease, wants to play the ultimate movie baddie, a James Bond villain.

Travolta sat down for an interview with Celia Walden which appeared in The Daily Telegraph. He said that his recent run of “tough-guy” roles including the yet-to-released film The Forger and playing John Gotti in the pending mobster’s biopic hasn’t quite satisfied his penchant for the dark side.

The 59-year-old actor would like to “close the chapter on playing villains” with a bang. He spoke of what it would be like to play a Bond villain, “I would love that. They’re going a different way with their villain in this next film but I’ve spoken to Barbara Broccoli (a producer) about it and she loves the idea, so that would be great.”

Travolta burst onto the scene as a teenage heartthrob in the 1970s. His long Hollywood career has certainly seen its fair share of ups and downs. But, he found happiness in acting. “I could take out the garbage and I would be heard. I never needed to do a lot to get attention, so my performing honestly came out of joy.”

The next Bond film, called Bond 24, will once again star Daniel Craig as the world’s most suave British spy. This will be Craig’s fourth go at playing 007. The film is slated for a 2015 release. Sam Mendes will once again take on directing duties. As of right now, it looks like Naomie Harris will reprise her role as Miss Moneypenny and Ralph Fiennes will take on the role of the new M. However, both of those roles are yet to be confirmed. Judi Dench’s M was killed off in the last Bond film Skyfall.

No final word yet on who will play the villain for Bond 24. However, names like Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and even Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) have been rumored. You can vote for who you think should play the next Bond villain on indiewire.com.
