  • John Denver of ‘Sunshine on My Shoulders’ and ‘Country Roads‘ fame was posthumously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday. The country/folk singer died 17 years ago in a plane crash. He was piloting his experimental, amateur-built Rutan Long-EZ.

Zak Deutschendorf and Jesse Belle Denver, John Denver’s son and daughter, attended the unveiling of their father’s star. It became the walk’s 2,531st star.

Other popular John Denver songs included ‘Rocky Mountain High,’ ‘Thank God I’m A Country Boy,’ and ‘Annie’s Song.’ Friday’s unveiling of Denver’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame coincided with the opening of a new exhibit in Hollywood called ‘Sweet Sweet Life: The Photographic Works of John Denver.’ The exhibit will appear for the next month at Hollywood’s Substrate Gallery.

John Denver was just 53 years old when he died back in 1997. His music and his children are his legacy. How wonderful that both are still honoring him to this very day.

In other interesting John Denver news, Barry Manilow–in conjunction with Amazon Music–just released a new recording of his duet with the late singer. Fans can hear both singers perform their rendition of ‘Sunshine On My Shoulders.’ The song is featured on Barry Manilow’s new album, ‘My Dream Duets.’

Were you a John Denver fan? If so, you are no doubt thrilled that in addition to his music, his memory is reignited through not only his duet with Barry Manilow, but also with the huge honor of receiving a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
