  • Country singer Joey Feek has managed to solider on despite her grave illness, but the reality of her situation has started to make her very emotional.

The other half of the country-bluegrass duo Joey + Rory has been suffering from stage 4 cervical cancer, and recently moved back to her childhood home in Alexandria, Indiana to be with her family.  She was diagnosed in June 2014 shortly after her and her husband, Rory Reek’s only daughter was born.

Their daughter, Indiana, has Down Syndrome. Rory keeps a blog named This Life I Live that chronicles his wife’s struggles, in which he shared a note that one of their neighbors had written for Joey Feek. It contained a photo of the neighbor’s young daughter named Scout – who is also a special needs child – riding a horse at the Center for Courageous Kids in Scottsville, Kentucky. Scout and Indiana are reportedly best friends.

Joey Feek was said to have broken down in tears upon reading the note that said: “Scout can’t wait until Indiana joins her at camp.” On the blog post, Rory added that Joey’s hands suddenly “started shaking and she closed her eyes and started sobbing.”

In between sobs, Joey Feek mumbled the words, “I want to raise our baby… I want to be the one to teach her,” Rory added.

However, her sobs reportedly stopped and she started to smile at the sight of snow outside her bedroom window. According to Rory, his wife looked up towards to the sky and said, “If this is the last snow I ever see, thank you Jesus … thank you.’ Like manna from Heaven. God sent us just what we needed … just when we needed it. He always does.”

To capture what might be the “last snow” she will ever see, Joey Feek headed outside the house and started recording. The video can be seen accompanied by the couple’s rendition of “It Is Well with My Soul,” which is part of their latest album to be released on Valentine’s Day next year. It will feature various hymns that Joey had grown up listening to and had given her comfort in this trying moment of her life.
