Jimmy Kimmel is a bit of a prankster, so it’s not really surprising that he’d film a fake disaster and spread it around the net to see how fast it went viral.

Earlier this week, most of us saw the video of a girl who did a handstand against her apartment door in order to “twerk” on video, only to fall backwards when someone opened the door and crash into the coffee table, setting her leg on fire with the candles sitting there. Kimmel had the girl–Daphne Avalon–call in to his show via Skype on Monday so he could interview her about the viral video, only to show “unaired footage” at the end which showed Kimmel in the apartment.

“To the conspiracy theorists on the Internet who thought the video was fake: You were right. It was fake. We made it up,” Kimmel said, and thanked Avalon for helping him “deceive the world and hopefully put an end to twerking forever.”
