  • Jill Dillard, nee Jill Duggar, is coming under fire in the wake of the cancellation of her family’s realty show, 19 Kids and Counting. Now some fans are wondering if the ministry Jill and husband Derick Dillard are requesting donations for on their blog is a scam.

It seems Facebook critics were the first to question the legitimacy of the Dillard Family Ministries. On their blog, Derick and Jill Dillard tell prospective donors that their ministry is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization. That means that all donations people make are tax deductible.

A Facebook poster claims Dillard Family Ministries is not listed on the official IRS site as a tax-exempt charity.

    RadarOnline researched the claim.

So are Derick and Jill Dillard scam artists?

    No.

An IRS spokesperson explained to RadarOnline that the IRS website is updated on the second Monday of each month. And while the Dillard Family Ministries didn’t appear there as it should have, it was an IRS oversight, and in no way reflects on Jill Duggar or her husband.

This no doubt restores some faith in the former 19 Kids and Counting stars. Jill Dillard and her husband are reportedly in El Salvador doing work as missionaries. It is expected they will return home in time to film the documentary on sexual abuse that TLC plans to air.
