  • Jennifer Lawrence is a huge homebody. She’d rather be home than anywhere else. Nowadays the Hunger Games and Joy star can’t go anywhere without being recognized, and she loves it–but not for the reason you might think.

“I’m a total homebody,” she said in a recent interview with NPR. “I’m always looking for excuses not to go out. I can now use fame as an excuse.” She laughs, “and I do.”

Jennifer Lawrence considered not taking on the role of Katniss Everdeen because she feared the franchise might become so big that her parents would have to move to a different home to ensure their privacy.

She took the role, however, and her parents wound up moving.

“I mostly just said, ‘You know what? I love this character. I love this movie. I believe in it, and I’m going to say ‘yes’ for the same reasons that I would say ‘yes’ to any indie,'” Jennifer Lawrence says.

Lawrence’s latest film, Joy, is about the woman known for creating the Miracle Mop.

“A lot of people have inventions or they have ideas and then they bring it to somebody else and they say, ‘I have this idea [but] I don’t know how to make it,'” Jennifer Lawrence says. “But Joy grew up in a metal garage, so she was in complete control of all of her creations.”

If you’ve ever seen Jennifer Lawrence as a talk show guest (and who hasn’t?) you know she has an incredible sense of humor. Can you fathom that the actress using her fame as an excuse to stay home? Wouldn’t you imagine Jennifer Lawrence would love being the life of the party instead?

Have you seen Jennifer Lawrence in the most recent Hunger Games installment, Mockingjay–Part 2? Will you be checking out Joy? It opens on Christmas Day.
