Jennifer Lawrence is a beautiful young woman and a very talented actress. Most guys would love to kiss her–right? Apparently that’s not the case if you’re Liam Hemsworth. And this has nothing to do with the fact that while he was filming the earlier Hunger Games films he was still dating Miley Cyrus. In fact, Hemsworth claims he hated kissing Jennifer Lawrence because of her breath.

Ouch.

You see, Lawrence and Hemsworth have reunited lately on the talk show circuit, promoting the latest of their films, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay–Part 1. All sorts of things are brought up when the actors do interviews, and one such topic wound up being all about kissing Jennifer Lawrence.

It was on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon–just this past Friday–that what might have become a very uncomfortable conversation turned funny instead.

Fans tweeted questions to the actors while they were guests on the show. One asked Liam Hemsworth what the most awkward scene was he ever had to film.

“Anytime I had to kiss Jennifer was pretty uncomfortable,” he replied.

Jimmy Fallon, of course, pressed him to delve a bit deeper into his response.

“When you look at it on the outside, it looks like a great picture,” Liam Hemsworth explained. “She’s one of my best friends, I love her, but if we had a kissing scene, she would make a point of eating garlic or tuna fish or something that was disgusting. Right before the scene she’d be like, ‘Yeah, I ate tuna’ or ‘I had garlic, and I didn’t brush my teeth.’ And I’d be like, ‘Fantastic, I can’t wait to get in there and taste it!'”

It certainly sounds like Jennifer Lawrence set her good friend up for most unpleasant experiences every time they had kissing scenes. The two play best friends-turned-potential lovers, Katniss Everdeen and Gale Hawthorne, in the Hunger Games series. The franchise’s third installment, Mockingjay–Part 1, opens in theaters on November 21st.
