  • Finally, after days of waiting by the media and supporters of the royal family, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has given birth to a baby boy. Both mom and son are said to be doing well.

The Palace issued an official announcement, saying:

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”

No name has been released yet, but that is not uncommon in royal births. There may be an announcement made when the family leaves the hospital, but it could take a few days to be released, so the media will just have to wait…something they aren’t known for being particularly good at. Kate and William were photographed earlier this year while on vacation due to enormous demand for photos of her “bump”, something which irritated the Palace to no end after dealing with the topless photo scandal that plagued the family last year.

The new baby is now third in line to take the throne after Prince Charles and Prince William, knocking Prince Harry down a notch. New changes to the succession rules meant that even if Kate had given birth to a girl, the child would have the same rights to the throne as a male.
