  • At its big press event, Apple just announced that iOS 7 will be available on September 18th. Tim Cook introduced the event and talked about a few of the company’s latest stats before turning the stage over to Craig Federighi, who revisited the features of the operating system Apple introduced back in June.

The OS has a completely new design and over 200 new features. Apple has provided images and explanations of these on its site since the announcement, and iOS 7 has been available to developers. The news here is that we now know when the general public of iPhone users will get it on their phones.

    Update (from the press release):

iOS 7 will be available as a free software update starting on Wednesday, September 18 for iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, iPad mini and iPod touch (fifth generation). Some features may not be available on all products.

*US English, French and German will be available with the launch of iOS 7. Additional languages will be added over time.
**iTunes Radio will be available with the launch of iOS 7 in the US.

Following the announcement, the company proceeded to announce the new iPhone 5C and 5S.
