Aaron Carter has apparently been reminiscing about the love he lost years ago, as he took to Twitter to pour his heart out about an old flame he let get away.

“Hilary Duff is flawless,” reads the caption under a photo of the 26-year old newly single actress. Carter retweeted it, then wrote, “Don’t be that stupid d–—e that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me…”

Carter dated Hilary Duff over ten years ago, when she was still starring on Disney’s “Lizzie McGuire”. They seemed as happy as any teen couple could be until Carter, as he once put it, got “bored”.

“I started dating Hilary [Duff] on my 13th birthday,” he said in a 2005 interview. “I was dating her for like a year-and-a-half and then I just got a little bored so I went and I started getting to know Lindsay, dating Lindsay.”

This isn’t the first time Carter has spoken about his ex; in 2012 he opened up about his feelings regarding her pregnancy and said that sometimes, he wondered what it could have been like if the two of them were still together. On Wednesday, he wasn’t afraid to expand on that, saying, “I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don’t care what ANY of you think.”

Carter isn’t the first guy to take to social media to lament the loss of “the one”; Justin Bieber posted a photo of his ex Selena Gomez earlier this week on Instagram, calling her an “elegant princess” as she posed at an Oscars party.
