  • A Texas man has been charged with manslaughter after shooting his friend in the face during an attempt to rid him of his hiccups.

27-Year old Pfc. Patrick Edward Meyers was drinking and watching football with two friends when one of them got a bad case of the hiccups. Meyers decided to use the “scare cure” on his friend and pulled out his handgun. Meyers claims he thought the gun had dummy rounds inside it before he discharged the weapon, hitting his friend in the face. The man was to be airlifted to a hospital, but died in the ambulance on the way.

The victim, who was just 22-years old, has not been identified. Meyers is being held on a $1 million bond.
