  • The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling has made King’s Cross Station an international treasure and has undergone a $875 million dollar makeover.

Potter fans will be able to find platform 9 3/4 with more ease. The platform is where Potter and his friends went through a wall to find the train to Hogwarts, their school.

As part of the station’s renovation, there is now a photo-op version of platform 9 3/4 right next to platform 9.

So many Potter fans went searching for the platform that the station actually created one in an alcove at the end of the station.

The overhaul might charm the pants off of Rowling fans, but the 45 million real-life commuters who muddle through the overpopulated station every year often found the experience a test of patience.

On Monday a spectacular new glass-and-steel entrance opened to the public in an effort to cut the crowding.

The new concourse was unveiled at King’s Cross train station in London, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 and was opened to the public yesterday. The new King’s Cross station concourse will be a new major London landmark which is expected to serve some 45 million passengers a year.
