Hannah Davis Thinks Sports Illustrated Cover Uproar Is “Silly”

  • Hannah Davis is pooh-poohing the the criticism over her controversial Sports Illustrated cover.

Hannah Davis thinks the picture, which features her in a tiny bikini and apparently getting ready to pull her bottoms down, isn’t anything to get excited about.

However, people have been getting excited about it, and not all of them in a good way.

Hannah Davis shrugged off suggestions that the cover of this year’s SI swimsuit issue went a little too far.

She said, “There’s controversy every year, so I think it’s kind of just silly that they’re making it out to be the big thing; I mean it’s the swimsuit issue.”

Thank you to my @si_swimsuit and @imgmodels family! I am honored to be your 2015 cover girl! Wow!! #SISwim

Hannah Davis added, “There are far more scandalous pictures in the magazine if you open it up. It’s a girl in a bikini, and I think it’s empowering; I’ve been hearing it’s degrading. I think the people who are saying that aren’t feminists, because I think when you’re a woman and you look at that picture and if you overanalyze it as anything more than just a full picture, it’s just silly to me.”

Silly, perhaps. But, why is it getting so much media attention?

Thank you @jimmyfallon for having me last night to talk @si_swimsuit – great seeing you! #SISwim

Hannah Davis went on Today to speak with Matt Lauer about the photo. The photo was censored for TV, which was weird, if you ask Hannah Davis.

She said of the censor attempt, “Well, I think you’re making it look a lot naughtier than it really is, to be honest.”

Hannah Davis insinuated that this cover was nothing out of the ordinary for SI. She said, “I think SI always tried to do something a little different every year and I think this year it’s the year of the torso.”

What do you think? Do you love Hannah Davis’ SI cover photo or do you think it went a little too far?
