  • Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie has joined the cast of the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

The movie, which is scheduled to debut in theaters next year, will be the last installment of the trilogy.

Christie is set to take over the role of Commander Lyme, who was played by American Horror Story’s Lily Rabe in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. Rabe’s conflicting schedule forced her to bow out of the sequel.

Christie’s screen credits include The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and the Wizards vs. Aliens. However, she is most recognized for her role as Brienne of Tarth on the HBO series Game of Thrones. Christie says that she loves the fantasy genre, and likes to take on roles that challenge her.

“The fantasy genre has so far rather embraced me, and I’m incredibly grateful for that,” she explained during an interview with Hero Complex. “The material that I like to work on, I like it to be challenging to me, and I like to really inhabit different kinds of characters, and for people’s preconceptions toward me to be challenged. I like to explore characters who are very different to me.”

For those of you who are not familiar with the Hunger Games trilogy, Commander Lyme originally came from District 2. She took part in the Hunger Games, and came out victorious, and is now one of the leaders of District 13.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will open in theaters on November 21, 2014, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will open on November 20, 2015.
