  • Guy Fieri is best known for his 90’s alt-rock-Food Network persona, but over the weekend he stepped outside of his Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives comfort zone to be the officiant at a massive gay wedding bash.

The event was put together by chef Art Smith on the day after Florida lifted its ban on gay marriage, in part as a dig against Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is reportedly very vocal about her feelings on same-sex unions. In the past, Smith has called her “Cruella DeVil”, and the wedding event was originally supposed to cater to 101 couples who signed up via Twitter. However, not every couple showed up for the big day.

No matter, though, because the event was still a huge success. Aside from Guy Fieri at the head of the altar, Ace Of Cakes star Duff Goldman took care of the wedding cake, a 7-tier affair in silver, gold and black. Smith took to Twitter after the party to thank his friends and some of the companies who helped sponsor the event, and shared several photos from the day.

Guy Fieri made headlines last week when a deleted scene from The Interview was released featuring the chef as himself, cooking for the Prime Minister of Israel and President of the State of Palestine. The scene was originally meant to be within the film’s faux talk show, with James Franco playing host.
