  • Google launched Google Shopping Express in March with a small test in San Francisco. Today, the company announced that it is being expanded to everyone in the Bay Area.

Google Shopping Express is a local delivery service that allows shoppers to order items online from well-known stores and have them delivered the same day.

Participating stores include: American Eagle, Blue Bottle Coffee, Lucky, Office Depot, Palo Alto Toy & Sport, Photojojo, Raley’s Nob Hill Foods, Staples, Target, Toys“R”Us/Babies“R”Us, and Walgreens. And starting today, you can also fill your cart with items from DODOcase, Guitar Center, L’Occitane, REI, and Whole Foods Market.

“Stores price the items on Google Shopping Express the same as they do in-store, so you’ll pay the same amount for whatever you’re buying,” says Google Shopping Express Product Management Director Tom Fallows. “You can add your retailer loyalty program number at checkout to take advantage of member prices. We’re working with many more local retailers and look forward to bringing them to Google Shopping Express soon.”

This follows new loyalty programs launched in Google Wallet this month.

“With Google Shopping Express you can select a delivery window that’s convenient for you, starting in the morning and running as late as 9pm,” he says. “To make this all work, our engineers put their heads together to figure out the most efficient way to get all the packages delivered across town in the delivery windows promised. And be sure to keep your eye out for our new hybrid fleet around town.”

Google has launched apps for iOS and Android for Google Shopping Express (Android 4.0+ and iOS 6.0+). The app lets shoppers search for items or browse stores, and of course place orders.
