  • Google has released an update for Google Maps for Android. Version 4.3 comes with a few new features.

First, users can see a snapshot of what people are saying about a place from the search results page. "Instead of pouring through full reviews, you can start by looking at what the most frequently mentioned aspects about a place are, such as food, service, atmosphere, or anything else people keep mentioning," explains Google Software Engineer Andrew Oplinger.  "Just like on Place Pages for your computer, the color-coded bar gives an overview of how positively people are talking about any individual aspect. Tap one to see more details like the actual review snippets. Whether you’re looking for top-notch service or a vibrant ambiance, you can now pick just the right place to go."

Upcoming schedules have been added to the public transit station pages.

In addition, it is easier to share your location with friends using Google Latitude. Now at the bottom of the Latitude friend list you can start sharing your location with people from your Google Contacts. You can simply add and subtract people from the list.

The new version of Google Maps for Android is available in the Android Market. It’s available in all countries and languages where Google Maps is available.
