Google has acquired Bump, the makers of the app of the same name that allows you to share information between phones by bumping them together.

The news was announced on the Bump blog.

Bump co-founder and CEO David Lieb said, “Our mission at Bump has always been to build the simplest tools for sharing the information you care about with other people and devices. We strive to create experiences that feel like magic, enabled behind the scene with innovations in math, data processing, and algorithms. So we couldn’t be more thrilled to join Google, a company that shares our belief that the application of computing to difficult problems can fundamentally change the way that we interact with one another and the world.”

Both Bump and its photo app Flock will continue to work normally, at least for the foreseeable future.

Lieb didn’t give much detail into what Google will be doing with Bump. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, Bump launched new capabilities to let you bump anything you can bump with your phone to and from any computer.
