In 2003, Google opened its first office in Ireland, and following a rapid expansion, it doesn’t look like the company intends to reverse course anytime soon.  Google’s now purchased the tallest office building in Dublin for about $136 million.

The Montevetro Building, as it’s known, is 15 stories high and offers 210,000 square feet of office space.  It’s located in Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock district, is currently unoccupied, and even has its own rail station to boot.

This development holds with Google’s habit of giving its employees convenient and comfortable workspaces, then.  Plus its tendency to grow at a brisk pace.

According to an Irish Examiner article, John Herlihy, the head of Google Ireland, explained the purchase by saying, "We are at capacity in our EMEA headquarters on Barrow Street and the additional space will allow us to relocate some teams to Montevetro and to create an even more spacious working environment for Googlers in our existing buildings.  Acquiring Montevetro also means we have the space and flexibility to support our future operations."

Herlihy then added, "Here in Dublin we are constantly seeking the best and brightest talent and at any one time we have a number of exciting opportunities available for the right people to come work with us. . . .  It’s a very exciting time in our company and it’s great to be a part of it."
