  • Giuliana Rancic has opened up about the hurtful comments she saw about herself on the web after her appearance at the Golden Globes earlier this year, and the E! host says she can’t help the way her body reacts to cancer treatment.

Rancic, who found out she had breast cancer in 2011, says that people have accused her of having an eating disorder and have criticized her appearance in hurtful ways recently, but she says that her diet is a full, healthy one and that her appearance has been altered by the medication she takes, which causes weight loss.

“I started noticing that I was eating a lot, but not gaining weight at all. I was concerned,” Rancic told People.

Rancic says she considers herself fortunate that the medication is working for her, no matter what people have to say about her appearance.

“It’s really hurtful. I’m sorry that some people think I’m disgustingly skinny, as they put it, but there’s nothing I can do. I’m lucky that I even have the type of cancer that reacts to the medicine,” Rancic said.

Giuliana and her husband Bill have been open about their struggle to have children over the years, and were elated when she became pregnant with their son right around the time she found out she had cancer. In fact, Bill has contributed her health to their little boy, who came at just the right time.

“Technically this baby saved her life because had she not gone through IVF — the doctor made it mandatory that she get a mammogram — they would have never found what they found so we owe this little guy debt of gratitude and I’m sure he’ll never let you forget it!” Bill said.

Rancic had four embryos frozen when she found out she had cancer, and recently revealed that the last one was miscarried by a surrogate around New Year’s Eve. Although the news was heartbreaking for the couple, Rancic said they may still adopt.

“We’re open to everything. I think adoption is a beautiful gift you’re giving each other. And it’s funny, I’m even more open to [adoption] than I was before. Because I think to myself, ‘I love Duke so much, if I couldn’t take care of him, I hope there would be someone else who would love him,” she said.
