  • Girl Meets World is one of the most highly anticipated shows of the 2014 Television season. Fans of Boy Meets World cannot wait to learn more about the life of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) post-series finale. Unfortunately, the official premiere date is still a mystery to everyone. However, Disney ordered 8 more episodes, which gives fans something to celebrate. This brings the series total to 21 episodes, an unprecedented amount for a series yet to air. Disney seems confident about the show capitalizing on the success of Boy Meets World. Their optimism may pay off in a big way.

News of the additional 8 episodes came through a tweet from Fischel. She seemed just as excited about this expansion as Boy Meets World fans.

The development of Girl Meets World has been kept pretty private, because producers have a few surprises they don’t want leaked to fans of the original series. Therefore, not many facts have been disclosed to the public. What fans do know is that Cory will follow in Mr. Feeny’s (William Daniels) footsteps as a history teacher at his daughter’s school. Topanga, apparently, owns a pudding hangout that many of the show’s central character will visit. The show also promises guest appearances from a bunch of familiar Boy Meets World faces, including Rider Strong as Shawn Hunter, Daniels reviving his role as Feeny and possibly Will Friedle as Cory’s older brother Eric.

Girl Meets World follows Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) as she tries to navigate middle school with her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter). Boy Meets World started with Cory and Topanga in middle school, and then eventually followed them to college and marriage. Disney may hope for the same outcome with the spin-off series.

The only known fact about the release date is that it’s happening sometime this year. It’s probable that the series could air before the fall 2014 television season.
