  • Geena Davis says she would love to reprise her role as lovable ghost Barbara Maitland alongside her onscreen husband Alec Baldwin in Beetlejuice 2, but says there is a very real reason why she won’t likely be asked to participate in the reboot.

The 1998 mega-hit Tim Burton film, Beetlejuice, is one of Davis’ favorite roles and although the actress famous for her roles in Thelma in Thelma & Louise, A League of Their Own, and her Academy Award-winning turn as Muriel Pritchett in The Accidental Tourist, says its her age that keeps her from reprising her role in Beetlejuice 2.

In an interview with ETonline, Geena Davis said although Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are apparently in for the reboot, the 59-year-old actress was not approached to appear in the new movie.

“I did hear that it’s really happening,” Davis told ET. “No one’s talked to me about it. I would love to! That was one of my favorite movies, too.”

Davis added that it likely won’t happen because she and co-star Alec Baldwin have aged since the first movie was released.

“But ghosts probably don’t age, and it’s going to be 30 years now. Of course, I haven’t aged, but I think Alec Baldwin maybe has aged, perhaps,” Davis joked.

Meanwhile, Geena Davis is as busy as ever and is set to return to the big screen in returning to the big screen in the Indie film, Marjorie Prime, playing the 44-year-old daughter of Jon Hamm of Mad Men fame. Shooting for the film begins in the Hamptons next week.

“Marjorie Prime is a ‘sci-fi dramedy’ that follows an elderly woman, played by 84-year-old Lois Smith, who interacts with a holographic re-creation of her husband as he looked at a younger age,” according to Page Six.
