  • “Game of Thrones” fans, rejoice! HBO has brought the popular fantasy series to Google Play! The cool thing about this is, since HBO is letting “Game of Thrones” slip over to Play, you can skip HBO’s monthly subscriber streaming fee that they charge to watch the shows from HBO’s website, HBO Go. You still have to pay for it, but at least you don’t have to be locked in as a member of the HBO club to watch it!

Of course, “Game of Thrones” is already available on Apple’s iTunes store, but the expansion brings it to an even wider audience. You’ll be happy to know that you can now purchase and download the first two seasons of “Game of Thrones”, as well as other popular HBO shows like “Newsroom” and “True Blood”, among others. You can buy these shows by the episode or by the season, whatever your appetite or budget may be.

“Game of Thrones” is based on the George R.R. Martin series of novels called “A Song of Ice and Fire”, hugely popular for it’s drama, blood, betrayal, redemption, and all that great stuff. “Game of Thrones” was the most pirated series out there in 2012 and 2013, and the reason for that is because it is so hard to come across legally, unless you were an HBO Go subscriber. The rampant piracy didn’t do much to hurt HBO’s bottom line, but it can’t help but be considered money flying out the window.

Also, it’s easy to see how die-hard fans who don’t have cable, which is becoming more and more common these days, can be irked about the inability to stream a show. So, really, it’s about time HBO got on the streaming bandwagon. The rumor is, that there will be more streaming content to come from HBO, so we will wait with bated breath to see what they put out next.
