FIFA 12 Sim Crowns LA Galaxy Regular Season Champs

  • Major League Soccer’s First Kick isn’t until Saturday night, but it’s already been determined that the LA Galaxy will win the Supporters’ Shield at the end of the year.

Well, according to the FIFA 12 video game, at least.

EA Sports has announced the results of their pre-season simulation and according to their sim, the LA Galaxy will be setting records this year. Their sim puts the Galaxy at 22-9-3 by year’s end:

EA simulated the entire 2012 MLS regular season, testing all 19 clubs under the same conditions they will face in the months ahead to determine that the LA Galaxy will finish first overall in the 34-game regular season with a league record 75 points, posting a 22-9-3 win-draw-loss record. Three losses would set an MLS record for fewest losses in a season.

Here are the results of the sim. How close do you think they are to what will really happen this season?

EA touts their record with predicting this stuff, saying that they got it right last year. Plus, Madden has correctly predicted the outcome of the Super Bowl 7 out of the past 9. If the sim turns out to be correct, LA Galaxy will be the first team to win the Supporters’ Shield three years in a row.

The sim also predicted who will win the MLS’ Golden Boot award (top goal scorer). That title went to Galaxy striker Robbie Keane with 19 goals.

LA Galaxy sure sees some credence in this sim. They just retweeted this EA Sports tweet:
