Facebook Officially Has 955 Million Active Users (552 Million Daily)

  • Facebook just released its first-ever earnings report as a public company. Aside from the financials, the company revealed its latest user stats.

Facebook says it has 955 million active users, 552 million of which are using Facebook daily. 543 million of them are using Facebook from mobile devices.

To put this all into perspective, the world’s estimated population, as of 2011, was 6,973,738,433. So take off the 6, and you’re left with close to the amount of ACTIVE users Facebook has. It’s pretty impressive, to say the least.

Even after all of the privacy concerns that have plagued users over the years, all the so-called “Facebook fatigue,” the increasing presence of businesses and advertising, and everything else, Facebook is still growing significantly. It remains to be seen how Facebook stock will perform once the dust from the report settles (they haven’t even held their conference call yet), but I would think that would have to count for something.

Remember when The Social Network came out? The tagline was, “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.” 500 million. The movie was released in 2010. We’re only slightly more than half way through 2012, and the number has nearly doubled.

On a related note, rival social network Google+ is growing significantly as well, albeit, on a much lower scale.
