Today, Facebook announced that your photo section on your Timeline is about to get a makeover - one which they say will make the photo-viewing experience more enjoyable.
When you access the photos tab at the top of the Timeline, the new layout will show a collage layout, complete with larger photos. you'll still be able to easily switch between photo sets, with the "photos of you," photos you've posted, and "albums" tabs at the top of the photo collage.
Here's what it will look like:
Users will also have some say in which photos stand out amidst the collage. Within each photo, an option appears to "highlight," meaning that it will be given more prominence in the new photo section. Hovering over the photo will also generate information about the photo - including the title, likes, and comments. Users will also be able to access likes and comments without having to click on the photo first.
According to Inside Facebook, the photo section redesign will apply to both personal Timelines and pages.
This isn't the first major Facebook photo upgrade in recent weeks. Back in June, they began to roll out new photo layouts to users' news feeds, which included up to nine images in one post. Pages also recently got larger photo functionality within their posts.
You should expect the Timeline photo section change to roll out soon.
