  • Orson Scott Card’s signature piece, Ender’s Game, is scheduled to hit the big screen in November, just in time for the holiday season. With Comic-Con 2013 going on this weekend, what better time for a movie targeting the sci-fi crowd to launch their viral marketing push? To kick things off, Summit Entertainment launched a couple of viral videos that serve as recruiting pitches for volunteers to join the battle against the Formics. Both of the viral videos feature Harrison Ford’s Colonel Graff issuing a call to arms, promising us we will never be caught off guard again:

For those who haven’t read Card’s book, and can’t quite tell what’s going on in the trailers, essentially, the earth is at war with an alien races, the aforementioned Formics, and part of the human race’s strategy includes using prodigious children as tacticians. Now, this admittedly loose interpretation is designed to be as spoiler-free as possible, but if you want to know the entire story of what the movie will be attempting to portray, you can always read the Wikipedia entry.

Because Star Wars has made me a de facto fan of sprawling space battles, my interest level is already up. Add in gruff-acting Harrison Ford, who, truth be told, is probably giving the audience a glimpse of what his return to the exalted role of Han Solo will consist of when J.J. Abrams delivers Star Wars: Episode VII to the masses in 2015 (or so).

Ender’s Game is scheduled for release on November 1st, 2013.
