  • Emmy Rossum, with her dark, doe-like eyes, pale skin, and sheaf of chestnut hair coiled over one shoulder, doesn’t have to try too hard to be glamorous. Her red-carpet looks are generally given a thumbs up by critics, and more often than not she looks like a ’40s dame transplanted to present-day Hollywood.

But, she says, women don’t need makeup and curls to be sexy. Having recently tapped into a different side of herself for her character on Shameless–Fiona–the actress and singer says she discovered some truths about female sexuality.

“Women don’t have to be glamorous to be considered sexy. I think that was so eye-opening for me. For someone who doesn’t wear makeup or fancy clothes, I think that was for me really liberating in a way. You can raw. You can be aggressive. You can be vulnerable. And you can be sexy,” Rossum told Variety.

Emmy Rossum and her Shameless co-stars hit the red carpet for awards season several times over the past couple of weeks, and the actress shared photos of the exciting events on Instagram looking plenty glamorous.

Emmy Rossum was one of several actresses who wore Armani on the red carpet for the SAG Awards over the weekend, predictably making many Best Dressed lists. Rossum was in good company, with Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Paulson, and Richard Linklater also donning the brand.
