  • After taking some time off to focus solely on her music career, Emily Osment is making her way back to television. No, the 21-year-old won’t be returning to the Disney Channel, however ABC Family has recently picked up Young and Hungry in which Osment stars, and another former Disney Channel star Ashley Tisdale produces.

ABC Family’s official website gives all the details about the new show, and what you can expect to see from Osment’s character. “Young and Hungry stars Emily Osment as a food blogger named Gabi. When Gabi inadvertently gets selected to prepare a meal for a tech guru named Josh (Jonathan Sadowski) she finds herself with an opportunity for a new job and possibly a new love. Gabi gets some much needed help and advice from Josh’s assistant, played by Rex Lee, and his housekeeper, played by Kym Whitley,” the site reads.

Young and Hungry isn’t the only new show that ABC Family has picked up this year. Mystery Girls, which is produced and starred in by former Beverly Hills 90210 stars Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth, is also set to premiere sometime in 2014. Spelling and Garth’s characters “reconnect to solve a real life mystery years after playing detectives on a TV show called, “Mystery Girls”.”

“It’s great to start the new year and my tenure at ABC Family with the pickup of these two funny original series,” said ABC Family’s new President Tom Ascheim. “Viewers are excited to see Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth back on television together again, and will fall in love with Young & Hungry star Emily Osment in these comedies that bring us fun, new characters with which to laugh out loud,” said ABC Family’s Chief Creative Officer Kate Juergens.
