  • Dunkin’ Donuts is getting into the holiday spirit this year and plans on selling Peeps around Easter for a limited time.

The new masterpiece was released in Dunkin’ Donuts stores yesterday, just in time for the spring season. The donuts are flower shaped, covered in pink or green pastel icing, and then topped off with a small Peep.

“As America’s donut leader, we are always seeking new and innovative donut varieties to help our guests celebrate special moments and occasions,” said Dunkin’ Donuts’ executive chef and vice president of production Innovation Stan Frankenthaler.

“PEEPS are synonymous with fun and happiness, and we are excited to combine two American favorites to create unique flower-shaped donuts adorned with a marshmallow chick that will sweeten any spring or Easter celebration,” he continued.

Peeps have always been a favorite sweet amongst children and adults alike, and combining them with another sweet, donuts, just seemed to be the most logical idea. How can you possibly go wrong with combining two seasonal favorites?

“We are excited to partner with Dunkin’ Donuts to introduce PEEPS Donuts and provide millions of people a delicious new way to express their PEEPSONALITY this season,” said Brian Bachrach, the senior marketing manager of innovation at Just Born Quality Confections, the creator of the marshmallow treat. “PEEPS and Dunkin’ Donuts have both built passionate and active communities of fans and have been creating smiles for more than 60 years, and we look forward to continuing that tradition with this unique and fun donut.”

Dunkin’ Donuts has been the leader in the donut industry for over 60 years, and is constantly coming up with new innovative ideas to keep them in the lead. They offer over 70 different varieties of donuts, and sell more than 2.5 million each year.
