  • The Dixie Chicks are going to hit the road for the first time in nearly a decade.

According to CBS News, the Grammy-winning group announced the launch of a 40-city-plus tour. Dubbed the “DCX MMXVI World Tour,” the tour will kick off on June 1 in Cincinnati.

According to the Dixie Chicks’ website, the world wide tour will last through the fall, culminating at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 10, 2016.

The Christian Science Monitor reports that the girls originally planned to limit their tour to Europe, but added venues in the United States.
The Dixie Chicks have been rather silent over the past few years. The trio’s last album, Taking the Long Way, was released in 2006 and garnered a Grammy for album of the year.

The chicks parted ways and sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire formed their own duo Court Yard Hounds, while Natalie Maines released her debut solo effort in 2013.

Despite parting ways, the Dixie Chicks are an incredibly successful music group and the highest-selling female group in the US, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Tickets for the U.S. dates of the 2016 Dixie Chicks World Tour will go on sale this Friday.
