  • It’s pre-E3 teaser trailer day, and along with Metal Gear Rising, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and Lord of the Rings: Guardians of Middle Earth, Dishonored now has a new teaser trailer available online. Bethesda seems to have gone the extra mile with this “teaser”, though, showing enough gameplay footage to show players just what they can expect when the game launches this fall.

Take a look at the trailer for yourself, but be warned: it contains multiple very graphic murders, pints of blood, and a creepy young girl:

Those who haven’t read any previews of Dishonored may now need some context for all of those assassinations set in a steampunk dystopia. From the Bethesda Softworks YouTube video description:

Dishonored casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. You are Corvo, the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is besieged by plague and ruled by a corrupt government armed with strange technologies, dark forces bestow supernatural abilities upon you.

Players will be able to eliminate their targets using stealth, weapons, gadgets, and supernatural abilities such as slowing time or possessing small animals. The methods players use for their assassinations will effect the mission outcome. The game will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It is scheduled for release on October 9 in North America and October 12 in Europe. Bethesda states that the game is not yet rated by the ESRB, but from the look of the trailer, it’s clear Arkane Studios isn’t pulling any punches, and Dishonored will definitely receive an “M” rating.
