  • David Hasselhoff is no longer David Hasselhoff. Yes, you read that correctly. At the age of 63, the former Baywatch star has legally changed his name. David Hasselhoff will now be called David Hoff.

“I’ve been wanting to drop the Hassel from my life for years. Now, I have made it official–David Hoff,” he says.

Fortunately for the man formerly known as David Hasselhoff (does this have a “Prince” ring to it?), he has long been known quite simply as “The Hoff.”

That will make it a bit easier for fans–of whom he surely has many–to adapt to the name change.

In addition to Baywatch, the man formerly known as David Hasselhoff is known for appearing in Sharknado 3, Kung Fury, and he served as a judge on America’s Got Talent.

What’s your take on David removing the “Hassel” from his last name? Might he soon find it to be a hassle in the days to come?
