The team at Vigil Games and THQ have been revving up the marketing machine with new trailers and behind the scenes footage. Now they’re ready to launch with the premier of the launch trailer for Darksiders II that represents the best of what the game has to offer.

If you have been following the game whatsoever, you know by now that the sequel follows the adventure of Death – one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. It takes place during the events of the first game that had War, his brother, fighting to clear his name. While it’s not the sequel that the end of Darksiders implied, it looks to be just as good, if not better, than the original.

As you can tell from the trailer, the team at Vigil took one lesson to heart – bigger is better. In an action RPG with loot and skill trees, you want to go as big as you can. It looks like the dungeons and environments that Death explores will hold true to to mantra of bigger being better.

If you are just as excited as everybody else is for Darksiders II, you can pre-order the game now to get access to some free DLC including the first DLC dungeon. If their terminology is any indication, it looks like Vigil will be pumping new content into Darksiders II for some time after launch.

Darksiders II will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on August 14. A Wii U version is also currently in development. It will probably be a launch title when the new console launches this holiday season.
