  • Daniel Radcliffe is returning to magic – but it’s not in the way you might think. The British actor was recently cast in the sequel of Now You See Me, the heist film released in 2013. Radcliffe will be playing Michael Caine’s son and joining the heist gang along with returning actors Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg.

Said Michael Caine about the casting news: “There’s a sequel to Now You See Me and we’re shooting in London. I shoot in December, the whole of December in London, and my son is Harry Potter. I thought it’d be funny, me and Daniel Radcliffe as father and son.”

Now You See Me was a surprise success upon its release, making over $350M worldwide. The movie follows a group of highly-skilled illusionists joining together to use their tricks to conduct bank heists. Says media blog Hey U Guys: “The movie was an awful lot of fun and now with Radcliffe on board, it looks like that is very much set to continue.”

The news comes to some Radcliffe fans as unexpected; the 25 year-old actor has been making serious strides to establish himself as an actor beyond magical roles. His recent roles include British horror movie The Woman In Black and the Allen Ginsberg biopic Kill Your Darlings. There’s been no word at the extent of Radcliffe’s role in the Now You See Me sequel, so fans will have to wait and see just how much magic is left in Dan.

Before we see Radcliffe using magic again, we’ll first see him as a young man named Ig in Horns, a dark thriller about a man who sprouts horns from his temples following the death of his girlfriend.

You can expect to catch the Now You See Me sequel in theaters in 2016.
