  • Dan Aykroyd has pledged to donate to a fund set up for slain Philadelphia Police Officer Robert Wilson III.

Dan Ackroyd made the announcement during an appearance at the Philadelphia Flower Show on Friday, where he was promoting his vodka, Crystal Head.

Robert Wilson died Thursday following a shoot-out that occurred during an attempted robbery at a North Philadelphia GameStop store.

Wilson, an eight-year veteran with the force assigned to the 22nd District, was randomly in the store performing a security check and was taking a moment to purchase a game for his eight-year-old son when the armed robbers entered the store.

Wilson is being called a hero after he placed himself in harms way to protect store employees by drawing attention away from them. He allegedly continued to fight for their protection even after he was shot.

Thirty-year-old Carlton Hipps and his brother, 26-year-old Ramone Williams, have been charged with the officer’s alleged murder.

The Police and Fire Federal Credit Union set up the fund for Wilson’s sons, aged eight and one.
