  • Comedy Central launched its “Countdown to Futurama” today on the Futurama Facebook page. Starting today, new teaser content will be posted daily including clips, character designs, episode stills, story boards, and more. This will go on for 50 days until the June 20th premiere of the series’ seventh season.

The first bit of content released is a short clip from the upcoming season premiere. In that episode, Bender B. Rodriguez evidently becomes caretaker for a young bending unit, and attempts to train him in the ways of bending:

In addition to the content updates on the Facebook page, Comedy Central will release seven weekly podcasts hosted by Futurama Executive Producer David X. Cohen. He will be joined by other writers and producers who will comment on the “Countdown to Futurama” material released the previous week. The first of these podcasts will be released exclusively to iTunes on Monday, May 7.

The daily content will be available on the Futurama Facebook page, which currently has almost 21 million “likes.” In addition, the countdown will be a daily feature on the Comedy Central Insider blog and will be posted to the Comedy Central Tumblr blog.

Are you excited about the return of Futurama? Is the 50-day countdown simply too much teasing? Leave a comment below and let me know.
