  • After a four year battle over child support with ex-husband Peter Cook, Christie Brinkley has finally reached an agreement E! online is reporting. The two have been locked in a bitter feud since their 2008 divorce. Cook allegedly had an ongoing affair with a teenage store clerk.

In recent months, things turned particularly ugly, with both parties accusing the other of trying to smear their public image. And although an agreement has been reached, that part of the feud continues to rage on.

They were encouraged by a judge on Friday to resolve the issue for the sake of their two children, Jack, 17, and Sailor, 13. A trial was scheduled for Tuesday, but it looks like the two reached an agreement before it came to that.

But bitter words continue to fly back and forth. First Brinkley wrote a statement on her Facebook page exposing Cook’s disturbing behavior, and going on to say that he is diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).

“Once and for all, this is my last word on the subject. Let it be known, that I “moved on” from my marriage to Peter Cook the moment a police offer tapped me on the shoulder and informed me that “my husband had been cheating on me in a two year affair with his 17 year-old-daughter.” Since that moment, it has been an odyssey of frustration as I have navigated the court system with one goal to find peace and protection for my family from the various forms of abuse at the hands of a narcissist.

I had a prenup, a confidentiality agreement, and a “civility clause” that all cost a lot of money, but were for all intents and purposes ignored and useless against the extended character assassination and extortion attempts I have endured. While extortion for money he was not owed was Peter Cook’s shameless goal in this last round, I was seeking respite from narcissist abuse by fighting for the right to enforce the ‘No Contact Rule’ which is imperative for persons, mostly women, dealing with a person diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.”

Cook’s lawyers claimed victory at the end of the settlement, saying that he secured a “parenting coordinator” as part of the deal – something that Brinkley contested.

She shot back with another Facebook post from her lawyer, suggesting Cook was the one who required an intermediary:

“There was never an appointment of a “parent coordinator” as Mr. Cook claims and there was absolutely no compensation paid to Mr. Cook. In addition, Mr. Cook was forced to pay his child support arrears rather than face the consequences of the Court. The settlement also provides for an “intermediary” to monitor Peter Cook’s abusive communications and levy a fine for any future violations.”

“The legal matter is now fully resolved. As to Peter Cook’s ongoing character assassination, we will no long dignify his behavior with a response.”

And there you have it. This is about as ugly as a divorce can get. The two may have reached an agreement, but their public hatred for one another rages on.
