  • American Hustle star Christian Bale may have missed out on an Academy Award this year, but he has something even better to look forward to. It has been reported that Bale is expecting his second child with wife Sandra “Sibi” Blazic, a former model and and personal assistant to Winona Ryder.

The couple has been married since 2000 but keep their relationship and family life very private. They already have one child together, 9-year old Emmeline.

In 2009, Bale told The Insider, “It’s all about my girls, my wife and my daughter. I carry a picture of them with me all the time.”

He also joked, “She dresses up as Darth Vader, she dresses up as Yoda and I say, ‘That’s all I do. That’s it. I do exactly the same that you do with your friends.’”

The second pregnancy was unofficially revealed on the red carpet at this years Academy Awards when Blazic arrived on Bale’s arm wearing a form-fitting black dress that revealed her popping baby bump.

40-year old Bale says that he owes “everything” to his wife who has stuck by his side through his career. “She’s such a good, strong woman,” he said.

In true private couple style, 43-year old Blazic had previously hid her pregnancy from the public at the Oscar Nominees Luncheon and at the British Film Academy Awards earlier this year.

Bale first appeared on the acting scene at age 13 when he was cast in Steven Spielberg’s 1987 film, Empire of the Sun. Since then he has received critical acclaim for his roles in American Psycho and The Machinist and has appeared in other popular films like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, The Fighter, and 3:10 to Yuma.

Bale and Blazic are on the Board of Trustees of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and support Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund. They have lived in Los Angeles for more than ten years.
