  • Cheryl Tiegs has spoken out against Sports Illustrated featuring fuller-figured women in its swimsuit edition. Model Ashley Graham is featured on one of its three covers.

During a recent interview with E! News, Cheryl Tiegs–a former supermodel–pretty much dissed Graham and others like her.

“I don’t like that we’re talking about full-figured women because it’s glamorizing them because your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches],” Tiegs, who has modeled for Sports Illustrated numerous times, said. “That’s what Dr. Oz said, and I’m sticking to it. No, I don’t think it’s healthy. Her face is beautiful. Beautiful. But I don’t think it’s healthy in the long run.”

Ashley Graham hasn’t yet responded to Cheryl Tiegs’ outspoken opinion. She has spoken out, however, about not liking the term “plus-sized model.”

“I like to call it, like, curvasexalicious,” she told Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday, creating a much better term instead.. “Sizing has gotten frightening. There’s a double 0 now. It’s a little scary on both spectrums of weight. I’m not a promoter of anorexia. I’m not a promoter of obesity. I think we have to promote women to be healthy at every size as long as they’re getting off the couch and moving their body.”

What’s your take on what Cheryl Tiegs had to say about Ashley Graham and her spread–as well as her cover–in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition?

Does the 68-year-old not realize people like Graham are likely healthier than the models who starve themselves to stay thin?

Cheryl Tiegs enjoyed her heyday as a supermodel in the 1970s.
