  • Tonight is a big night for two of Twitter’s most-followed stars. At 9 pm EST, the first episode of the new Two and a Half Men premieres – the Ashton Kutcher era has arrived. And just 30 minutes after that goes off the air, the man Kutcher replaced, Charlie Sheen, gets roasted on Comedy Central.

Of course this is no coincidence, as Viacom and CBS are sister companies. The social media buzz surrounding both of tonight’s television events has been significant. Comedy Central has tried to utilize the hashtag #SheenRoast to promote The Roast of Charlie Sheen on Twitter.

Charlie has been working hard himself, promoting the show heavily for the last week or so to his nearly 5 million followers.

Although Kutcher is replacing Sheen on the hit CBS show after Sheen was fired due to personal issues, there hasn’t really been any evidence of bad blood between the two actors. Of course, some have speculated as to a “rivalry” of sorts – but the two are apparently getting along just fine, if Twitter is any indication.

Last night, at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, the two met for the first time backstage, snapped some photos, and talked about it on Twitter.

Kutcher recently wrote in USA Today about the decision to replace Sheen on Two and a Half Men. He credited social media, specifically his giant presence, in the decision to move forward with the new gig –

When I really broke down the decision to take the job, there were so many rewards and few risks — except maybe one: I was stepping into a media frenzy. But I figured I could temper that a bit by keeping the lines of communication open with my social media presence. I can always set the record straight.

That media frenzy culminates in tonight’s premiere episode.

Kutcher will play an online mogul on the show, an “internet billionaire with a broken heart” named Walden Schmidt. Rumors that Charlie Sheen’s character Charlie Harper will meet a tragic death during the premiere have since been confirmed by co-star Jon Cryer.

What will you be watching tonight? Do you think that Ashton Kutcher will be a hit on Two and a Half Men? Let us know in the comments.
