  • Cedar Park will be closed on Sunday, June 8 due to a water main break.

The park and several nearby resorts including Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle Suites and Lighthouse Point were all closed on Saturday and will also be closed on Sunday.

The water main provides the water supply to Cedar Point and broke early Saturday morning, causing the park to close.

Crews from the city of Sandusky have been working on the main, but the repairs are not yet complete.

“The latest assessment is that the necessary repairs will require several more hours to complete” to restore water service, Cedar Point spokesman Bryan Edwards said in a statement released Saturday evening

“Once the water main is repaired, there are additional procedures that must be taken to restore water pressure to all areas on the property, and testing that must follow to ensure the systems are working properly and the appropriate water quality is established.”

The park plans to open up again on Monday as long as there are no complications and the repairs are completed by that time.

Castaway Bay Indoor Waterpark Resort and Breakers Express remained opened Saturday and will also be open on Sunday. Cedar Point ticket holders can also use their tickets for other Cedar Fairs parks if desired.

All Cedar Point tickets will be honored on any operating day in 2014 and guests who had reservations at any Cedar Point resorts can call the resort and have their reservations changed to a different date.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has advised travelers to avoid the area because of traffic jams. Many people are leaving after learning that the park will be closed and the Cedar Point causeway is heavily congested.
