  • Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther was ready to leave for her scheduled C-section In North Carolina last Tuesday. Her daughter Lauren Lusk left her to get gas before driving her mom to the hospital. When she returned from the gas station, the 49-year old pregnant woman was gone.

“When I got back, she was gone. The lights in the house were off, the door was unlocked,” she said.

Lusk, who is 26, told NBC News she spent the weekend with her mother, helping her prepare for the impending birth.

Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther’s car was gone. Lauren Lusk checked local hospitals, just in case her mother decided she couldn’t make the 40 minute drive to Charlotte, where she was scheduled to undergo the C-section.

The pregnancy was high risk, and Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther’s medical condition mandated the baby be born via a C-section instead of a vaginal birth.

“She seemed nervous obviously, but more towards the end of the pregnancy, she started getting happier about it. The last few weeks, she was really excited,” Lauren Lusk said.

When she left for the gas station Tuesday morning, Carrie Bradshaw-Browther was still wearing her pajamas. She had curlers in her hair. Her makeup and purse were in the house after she vanished, but both her wallet and cellphone were missing.

“It’s not like her,” Lusk said. “She likes to keep up her appearance.”

Nearly a week passed since Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther went missing. On Monday she was located in Boone, North Carolina–about 80 miles away from her home. She apparently left of her own free will and is said to be in good condition.

“I am Carrie,” she reportedly said when the county police pulled up along side her van, according to Watauga County police.

Police were taking Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther to a nearby medical facility for an evaluation.

What do you suppose made this 49-year-old pregnant woman leave just an hour prior to her scheduled C-section?

It certainly sounds as though there are some emotional–if not mental–issues at play.

Fortunately for all involved, she was found safely and is in good condition. Her family members likely feared a much worse ending to this bizarre scenario.
