  • Cara Delevingne was recently featured in an interview with Vogue magazine, in which the writer suggested the model’s sexuality was a phase.

This past weekend, The New York Times published a new interview with the Paper Towns actress, in which she spoke of discovering a petition that insisted upon an apology from Vogue’s Anna Wintour. She found the petition flattering.

“My sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am,” Cara Delevingne told the Times.

And though she believes there was nothing malicious in the Vogue article, she felt it was misleading.

Cara Delevingne is presently dating Annie Clark. She is a singer who performs under the stage name of St. Vincent. Delevingne says she is bisexual.

“If I ever found a guy I could fall in love with, I’d want to marry him and have his children,” she says in the Vogue article.

The writer of the Vogue piece added that Cara Delevingne’s parents suggested her love of women might be a phase. The writer, Rob Haskell, added in his own words that “they may be correct.”

He also suggests that her interest in women is due to a poor relationship with her mother.

The petition the model and actress speaks of now boasts more than 22,000 signatures. The title of the petition reads, “Tell Vogue Magazine : Being LGBT Isn’t A “Phase!”

Do you think Vogue–or at the very least the writer of the article about Cara Delevingne–owes an apology to all LGBT people?

The comment about Cara’s sexuality being a “phase” is rather condescending. It implies she isn’t able to discern her own sexuality.
