  • For week two of Dancing With The Stars season 18, the stars chose the dance that they would be doing with their professional dance partners. Many of the dances that were chosen by the rest of the contestants were mainly swing; however, Candace Cameron Bure took a risk last week, choosing Rumba with her partner two-time champion Mark Ballas.

The reason why Rumba is a big risk for Bure is that, typically, Rumba (commonly known as the “dance of love”) is a Latin dance that is very sensual and romantic with very stern Latin hip actions and walks. Sometimes, when the Rumba is danced, the outfits (especially for the women) can be very revealing. This goes against Bure’s statement that she made at the start of the competition when she stated that she will not wear any sexual outfits and be very modest on the show.

As part of the “opening package” prior to Bure’s and Ballas’ performance for this week, Bure proclaimed her faith to show, letting the Dancing With The Stars viewer base know that her relationship with Jesus drives both her personal and professional decisions:

“I’m a Christian. My life revolves around my relationship with Jesus Christ, so with the overall tone of the dance and the costumes, I’m not going to take a backseat. My voice will definitely be heard.”

Bure and Ballas danced their Rumba to “Say Something,” the well-known song by A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera. Their Rumba contained lots of content, involving: a side-by-side pass, Latin walks (driven by a cross-body lead), an under-arm turn, and Waltz-based turns. Various parts of the dance also contained various contemporary dance-like elements, which Bure danced in week one of the competition.

The judges gave Bure and Ballas: 7 (by Carrie Ann Inaba), 7 (by Len Goodman), and 7 (by Bruno Tonioli), which equals to 21. Unfortunately, Bure will not be dancing with Ballas next week, as Dancing With The Stars viewers will be using Twitter to decide the pairings for next week’s dances.

Bure’s partner Ballas offered the following tweet pertaining to the Rumba they performed and praised his partner Bure, letting the public know that Bure is not all “what you see is what you get.”
