Camila Cabello and Austin Mahone are proof that they don’t build famous couples the way they used to!

Cabello and Mahone were lovey-dovey only a few short weeks ago, but now it appears that they are officially no longer together.

While Mahone’s fans are no doubt dancing with glee that their idol is single again, it’s a bit sad that these two broke up less than one month after Cabello made their relationship public.

Camila Cabello’s ex had nice things to say about her during his recent interview for Teen Vogue

“[Camile is] an amazing girl, and we have the best time together,” Mahone gushed.

The 18-year-old said that he wasn’t “looking for a relationship”, but sparks flew as he and the 17-year-old Fifth Harmony member spent time together on tour.

So what led to the youngsters falling out of love so soon?

According to gossip site HollywoodLife.com, Camile Cabello’s decision to take their budding relationship public may have been what led to their breakup!

A source told HollywoodLife, “There was some trouble in the relationship brewing and as a last-ditch effort, Camila made it official.”

Unfortunately it completely backfired; instead of making Mahone and Cabello closer, the move drove them apart.

“[Camila] wanted to tell people and [Austin] wanted to keep it low key,” said the source.

The insider also claimed that Mahone went so far as to accuse his girlfriend of using their relationship to boost her fame.

The two supposedly decided to call it off not long after this painful accusation was made against Camila.

Cabello seemed a bit more matter-of-fact about the entire thing when forced to acknowledge the breakup during an interview with Kiss 96.1 radio.

“We’re actually not together anymore,” said Cabello, who added, “Hey, things happen.”

Cabello has not ruled out finding a new beau by the end of the holiday season.

She joked, “I need some mistletoe action!”

Of course, just because the pair are done for now doesn’t mean they couldn’t rekindle their romance in the future.

The anonymous insider told HollywoodLife, “They aren’t bitter with each other and something might happen with them in the future but right now, they both are enjoying the clean break.”

Apparently the split between Cabello and Mahone was “a long time coming”, but maybe time apart will lead them back together?
