  • New York City Bus Driver Stephen St. Bernard was on his way home from work when he noticed a little girl standing on an air conditioning unit protruding from the third story window of an apartment building. The girl, who has been classified as special needs, had somehow managed to crawl out onto the unit, much to the dismay of those lurking below. St. Bernard, who has said that he isn’t a hero for saving the child’s life, positioned himself beneath her in case she fell.

“I just prayed that I’d catch her,” Stephen said of the incident on Monday. “Please let me catch her, please let me catch her.’ That’s all I could say.”

As she was about to jump from the unit, St. Bernard prepared himself for her eventual descent towards the ground. As you can see from the video embedded below, Stephen caught the girl before she connected with the pavement. The jumper was treated at a nearby hospital for minor injuries. For his troubles, St. Bernard enjoyed a torn tendon in his shoulder. If the parents don’t step forward and pay for this guy’s medical bills, then shame on both of them.

Currently, no charges have been filed against her mom and dad.
