  • According to the Bible’s King James Version, Isaiah chapter 54 verse 17 starts the scripture with:

No weapon that is formed against thee, shall prosper…

To some, this statement is literally just another read from a trendy book, but for a Dayton, Ohio bus driver, he strangely experienced the manifestation of this passage Monday morning.

Rickey Wagoner, 49, called 911 around 5:20 a.m. after three young teenage boys attacked him outside his bus.

The bus driver was shot three times: once in the leg and twice in the torso.

However, the latter bullets miraculously did not pierce him. Instead, a contemporary translation of the Bible titled The Message was wounded by the gunshots.

“The two bullets were stopped by the New Testament book in his (shirt) pocket,” Sgt. Michael Pauley of the Dayton Police Department told Dayton Daily News.

The newspaper reported how the incident occurred. As Wagoner was attending to vehicle failures, he was approached from behind. When he turned around, one of the assailants fired two shots at his chest. During the confrontation, he managed to get the firearm away from the gunman after he was shot in the leg and stabbed in the arm. He stabbed one of the teens in the leg with a pocket pen.

The attackers then fled the scene. (image)

“I didn’t want to stay there. I took the gun and knife away from them and shot at them,” he told the 911 operator.

Wagoner later said during the emergency call: “I’ve got a book in my pocket and I don’t think they made it through this book.”

Wagoner told investigators that he put up quite a struggle, in attempt to fight off a group he believed to be a gang participating in initiation activities. He recalls one of the teens demanding another to murder him “if you want to be all the way in the club.”

Investigators are not associating the attack with gang-related violence. Yet, they have determined that it was definitely not a robbery.

As for The Message, Pauley told Dayton Daily News that it visibly saved Wagoner’s life.

“There was obviously some kind of intervention involved in this incident, because he probably should not be here.”

Wagoner is currently recovering at the Miami Valley Hospital and is reportedly in good condition.

So, do you think this was divine intervention or just a fortunate coincidence?
