Britney Spears Tears Ligaments In Onstage Fall: News About Vegas Shows

  • Britney Spears suffered a harsh injury in Vegas when she fell onstage, and now the pop star has some news about her residency there.

Spears made a surprise appearance on Ellen recently and limped onstage in a boot, telling the talk show host that when she stumbled onstage her dancers helped her finish the number. The fall looks pretty bad, as Spears rolled her ankle and couldn’t get up right away, and she said she did tear some ligaments. The injury forced her to cancel a show for the first time over the weekend.

“I actually wasn’t doing anything that hard. I was just kind of bopping around, and I’ve done like eight years worth of shows, plenty of shows, and I’ve never actually fell onstage, so it was really kind of embarrassing. I fell down and then I got up and my dancers kind of guided me to keep going. I tore some ligaments. The show must go on…I’m extending the residency for three months,” Spears said.

That’s right: Brit isn’t letting a little fall stand in the way of her shows, which have been hugely successful despite making several headlines. Last month, Spears took on a heckler who called her a “fat bitch” during a performance, pausing to give him a piece of her mind before going right back to her song. Spears has also been accused of lip syncing during her shows, and during a performance in Vegas last year several fans wondered if the song “Perfume” was actually a recording sung by Sia.

Britney Spears has garnered some attention in recent weeks with her new collaboration with Iggy Azalea, “Pretty Girls”, and many are wondering who she’ll partner with next. Billboard even compiled a list of possibilities, which include Lana Del Rey, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga.
