  • We reported to you earlier that Fox’s X-factor let go of host Steve Jones because Simon Cowell thought there was a “Brit limit on the show.” Well apparently there is more room for Brit power than was originally permitted — after much negotiating, Britney Spears will become the next judge on the show. She will receive $15 million for her new role.

This assignment could be very empowering for Spears because she will get to determine who is worthy of becoming America’s next singing talent while offering advice and encouragement to those who get beat out and bumped up along the way.

The show was created by Cowell and the winner of the competition receives a $5 million recording contract with Epic Records.

One source told E! that Spears will stay close to co–conserver and fiance Jason Trawick because he will be a producer for the show. Spears’s father, Jamie, recently asked a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to add Trawick as a co-conservator so that he can have control over her well-being. He will not be awarded any power to manage the princess of pop’s finances.

Jamie Spears has held legal control over his daughter and her multimillion-dollar fortune since Feb. 2008 after the singer suffered a psychological breakdown. Making Trawick a co-conserver insures that more of Britney’s health matters can be handled within the sanctity of their pending marriage.

Some people are warning Britney to be very careful about her decision to join the show considering Nicole Scherzinger quit and Paula Abdul was fired. Hopefully Brit will be a lasting face.
